Washing instructions - Reusable Sanitary pads
A used sanitary pad can be handled in several different ways before washing. Some choose to rinse the used cloth pad immediately after use, while others simply fold it and store it in a waterproof storage bag until it's time for washing. It's also okay to soak the cloth pads in cold water with a little salt for a day before washing. If you want to remove any stains, they can be treated with, for example, soap or lemon soap. Wring out and put the cloth pads in the washing machine. It's fine to wash the cloth pads together with other laundry. It's also not necessary to soak the cloth pads before washing; they can be put in the machine as they are.
Step by step
✓ After use, either rinse the pads with water, or rinse and soak them in cold water with salt. Or let them dry as they are before washing.
✓ Then wash the pads in the washing machine at 60°C with your regular detergent. Do not use fabric softener, as it ruins the absorbency and is not good for the intimate environment. Instead, you can add a little vinegar to the rinse water. Feel free to wash cloth pads together with other laundry.
✓ Let the pads air dry – they last longest that way – or use a tumble dryer or drying rack with low temperature. During sunny months, it's advantageous to dry the pads outside in the sun as the sun also helps to bleach any stains.
